Rescue Team: Fire Fighter

Now on its own, this beefed-out public servant, likely modeled after the popular Fisher Price line called “Safety Squad” or some crap, is a fairly standard and mundane toy. The thing that makes the bizarre is that it comes equipped with a ROCKET LAUNCHER!

What the hell would a fire fighter use a rocket launcher for anyway? Does he use it to knock down burning building that are just too far gone or too hard to put out? Is the weapon used to punish cats that climbed up one to many trees? Is this the result of some sort of mix-up at city hall when the yearly budget was being written up? Perhaps the world will never know. What makes this figure all the more ridiculous is the equipment pack (sold separately).

Rescue Team: Equipment Pack

If you're a kid and you have a firefighter action figure, what kind of equipment would you want for him?… that's right, ski equipment! In the pack comes a set of skis, ski boots, ski rods, and a nifty 70's style jumpsuit… all of which are designed for a doll twice the height and half the width of the Rescue Team figures.

The pack also comes with a giant machine gun, which we all know is essential if you are going skiing. Although this is the only piece to come in the pack that can actually be held or used in anyway by the figure, half of the sets (probably to cut costs) had replaced these pieces with cardboard cutouts with guns printed on them. What child wouldn't be satisfied with a two-dimensional paper replica of an actual toy? I know I was dumb when I was young, weren't you?
